Library

The Library enjoys a prime position in the school’s purpose built Learning Centre, with views over the school grounds and the Wye Valley. The library is available for the  from 8.00 am until 6.00 pm every school day.The Learning Centre also houses a Conference Room and a busy Internet Café

ICT facilities are fully integrated within the Library with PCs, laptops and wireless access to the School's network. All pupils and staff are encouraged to use the Library's facilities for both academic study and recreational reading. Resources include thousands of fiction and non-fiction books, periodicals, online subscription databases, and film and music DVDs. Our Moodle Virtual Learning Environment gives students and staff access to the Library's online catalogue which provides details of resources held in the main Library and of useful websites. There is plenty of space to sit and learn in a peaceful, airy atmosphere with fine views.

The Library plays a key role in developing information literacy skills, working with subjects to promote effective use of Library resources and to encourage students’ independent learning throughout the school and beyond. Students are helped to gain confidence and familiarity with the Library system through Library induction classes.  Displays, visits from visiting authors and the Moodle VLE  help the students to view the Library as much more than just an aid to learning.
