Lucy makes voice heard with National Youth Choir

Year 8’s Lucy Palfery made her voice heard as one of the National Youth Girls’ and Boys’ Choirs of Great Britain, making her first appearance for them in a performance of Just Being Me, composed by Ben Parry. Despite being recorded virtually due to Covid restrictions, Lucy’s solo part does WHS proud. She lets News Crew know about the experience.

Lucy Palfery, Year 8
I heard about NYC through NCO, the National Children’s Orchestra, in which I have been playing for three years. It was weird to perform virtually, because I couldn’t hear anybody else and had to use a click track. The best bit of the online course was the rehearsals, because everyone was on mute so if I got something wrong, nobody else could hear! I’m not entirely sure what the next thing NYC will be doing, COVID 19 is being unpredictable at the moment, but I am hoping to take part in future residentials and concerts with the choir. I have been singing since I was very small, and although I have never had a singing teacher, I have sung in various choirs including Taplow Girls’ Choir and Berkshire Maestros choirs. I don’t have any plans for the future at all, including singing or anything else. My philosophy is that if you choose to do things that you enjoy and keep an open mindset, the right things will happen!
