Former staff & students to conduct & perform w/ the Slough Philharmonic Society Saturday 14 December 7.30 pm Centenary Hall, Caldicott School.

Former WHS Director of Music Mrs Sheila Cornall is the Chorus Director with the Slough Philharmonic Society.  Mrs Cornall will be conducting former students including Susanna Fairbairn featured Soprano, as well as Alice Martin and Becky Howitt.

Susanna (class of 2002) has a wide experience in the worlds of opera and oratorio.  She will be singing Mozart’s joyful and youthful cantata Exsultate, jubilate with its famous setting of Alleluia as its final movement.

Alice Martin (class of 2019) from the National Youth Training Choir, Becky Howitt (class of 2018) from Oxford University, and Morgen Michel (counter tenor) from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Britten’s wonderful Ceremony of Carols originally written for treble voices, will here be sung in Britten’s own version for four part chorus, to be followed by Corelli’s orchestral Christmas Concerto with its final Pastorale giving a musical picture of the angels hovering over Bethlehem. The concert will also include carols for chorus, audience and orchestra.
