Cross Country Cup National Finals
Wycombe High's inter cross country squad finished 24th in the country after an outstanding display in the Derbyshire hills.
Mount St Mary's College, in Spinkhill, Derbyshire played host to the English Schools' National Finals for the Cross Country Cup on Saturday 7 December. Two rounds preceed this event with the first round held in October and the second in November. Both the WHS junior and inter teams qualified for the second, regional, round and brilliantly, the inter team, comprising students from Year 9 and 10, qualified for the national finals. This is the most prestigious event of the cross country calendar! I'm excited to report that not all runners in this team are club cross country runners, so this is a marvelous achievement. Couple this with the fact that making it through the tough Buckinghamshire regional round is a real challenge as the county famously comprises very strong schools and runners.
What a team! We finished in 24th place as a team with Keshni from Year 10 finishing 30th - that's of all Year 9 and 10 girls in the country! Amazing! Tia, Amber, Lyra and Annie were not far behind on this hilly and challenging 3050m course. I'd like to thank all our parents and supporters, including staff from John Hampden and students from a number of other schools, for all their support. It was an amazing day! #WycHighProud # WeLookBeyond
