Former Student Profile - Zoe Hall, Class of 2015
We are looking forward to welcoming back Zoe as one of our Year 12 Inspire and Career Talk speakers Tuesday 3 March Period 4 in the Hall.
What years did you attend WHS? 2008-2015
What did you get up to at WHS in terms of study and extracurricular activities?
I played netball, was part of orchestra and sang in the choir.
Do you have any fond memories you’d like to share?
I am really grateful that I was able to go to such incredible places while studying at Wycombe High, like South Africa for the sports tour and New York for the Art and Graphic Products trip.
What did you do after school? Gap year, straight into business or Uni.
I went straight into a Mechanical Engineering degree. I went to Imperial College London, which I chose due to it being one of the top universities in the world for engineering. I also really wanted to live in London.
What are you up to now?
I have just finished my 4-year master’s degree, which I have graduated from with a first, and am now starting a PhD in the Mechanics of Materials department within Mechanical Engineering at Imperial.
What do you know now that you didn’t in Year 13 that you’d like to share with current students?
You don’t need to know exactly what job you want to do right now. So long as you know what subjects you like and don’t like and choose something you are interested in, you will enjoy and excel at university. I have ended up on a completely different career path to where I thought I would be and still don’t know exactly what I want to do for a job, but I’ve learnt about what I want out of a job and realised there are certain jobs I definitely don’t want to do. From finishing school to choosing your ideal career, whether you go to university or not, it is a narrowing down process of what you do and don’t like rather than a straight path from A to B.
