WHS Students Participate in ‘Thank you for your Service’ tribute to UK’s Keyworkers

Music All Years

Over the Easter holidays, two Wycombe High School students, Amelie De La Salle (N9, 10E) and Amaris De La Salle (N7, 8C), participated in a musical tribute to the UK’s key workers.  Here’s what Amelie and Amaris had to say about the experience.

“The lyrics to this “thank you” song were specially written by our singing teacher Sophie Juge with her colleagues, as a dedication to all the “Heroes” who are working so hard to support other people and keep the country moving during the Coronavirus pandemic.

On 6 April, we were invited to join in this singing project, so we quickly learnt the lyrics which were set along to the tune of Abba’s song ‘Thank you for the Music’.    The next day, we all had to record our own parts individually, whilst at home in lockdown.

The singing teacher created the video and shared it via YouTube and social media.  There has already been some publicity through Buckinghamshire County Council, Marlow FM, as well as the Bucks Free Press and Maidenhead Advertiser.

We both really enjoyed doing this and we felt it was a lovely way to be part of something so worthwhile and memorable during this time.”
