Meggie Beards – WHS Class of 2017 - Reflections of Graduating in Lockdown

Guild Careers

On the 26 May 2020 I finally completed by Psychology degree by handing in my dissertation.

Finishing my degree in lockdown due to COVID-19 was not exactly what I expected. I had in mind that I would be handing in my dissertation, taking a picture outside the University of Sussex (not my front door!) and then go on to celebrate with my family and friends and have a night out! Unfortunately, this was not the case.

I had so much time to write my dissertation and final essays as I couldn’t go anywhere or see anyone, so there were no excuses for me to not finish on time. In a way, lockdown helped me to focus and crack on with my work, so there were some positives of the lockdown!

My summer graduation was cancelled, which was the worst part of it all as I wasn’t able to buy a new outfit, wear a graduation gown and cap or have a cute graduation picture!

Congratulation to Meggie from everyone at Wycombe High School.
