X-ceptional Xmas Concert streams to world! Report & video here!
Wycombe High ushered in the festive season with it's traditional Christmas Concert, which streamed live to the world through Wycombe High TV on Tuesday 9 December and raised over £1300 for Age UK Buckinghamshire!
Hosted by Year 13 Music Captains Evie and Anna, the show was a musical spectacular that highlighted the phenomenal musical talent possessed by the students, the tireless work of the Music Department and pupils, and the can-do attitude that means Covid or no Covid, the show goes on!
"It was such a fun concert although slightly chaotic at times," said host Anna. "It was jam-packed with festive cheer and has really put me in the Christmas spirit. I can definitely say it was one of my favourite WHS concerts and was a very uplifting end to what has been quite an unsettling year. I can't wait for the Carol Service on Tuesday, but am sad that it will be my last one."
As well as the amazing music, the concert managed to raise over £1300 for Age UK Buckinghamshire, and was filmed and streamed by a student film crew, who took on duties from camera operator to sound engineer to floor manager.
Mr Kidd reflected on another success for the Music Department. "What I enjoyed most about this Christmas Concert is how everyone, both students and staff, worked together to put on a brilliant concert," he said. "It really was a great team effort, from performing the music to filming to audio to presenting. The students deserved a concert, but it was their outstanding commitment and hard work that made the evening so special. I also thought our hosts presented superbly."
One of those hosts, Evie, had a great time. "I think the concert went very well, particularly as it was the first time we intertwined live and recorded performances," said the Year 13 student. "It was also a very successful evening for Age UK who have contacted us to express their thanks. I think my favourite part was either the hosting and the interactions between myself and Anna or my big timpani roll at the end of Polar Express! I loved presenting it with Anna! We both find we feel very natural presenting together. It’s always a little stressful but that’s what makes it fun! I’m also incredibly grateful to Mr Kidd for organising the event and all the work he put in leading up to it."
