More than 200 students have begun an exciting new chapter at Wycombe High School today as we welcomed our new Year 12.
Among them are 50+ students joining us from other schools, bringing new faces, experiences and friendships to our thriving Sixth Form community.
The day began with a welcome and briefing from Headteacher Nicola Renyard, before students were given an unusual opportunity to get to know their new classmates while putting their academic skills to the test.
The Obelisk Task challenged teams to use logic, communication and problem-solving to unravel a fictional ancient mystery and determine on which day of the week an obelisk was completed.
It certainly wasn’t your average first-day ice-breaker, but it soon had students talking, thinking and working together!
The arrival of another large Year 12 cohort reflects the continuing appeal of a Sixth Form which Ofsted described as a “beacon of excellence”.
Students joining Wycombe High Sixth Form benefit from an outstanding academic education alongside a wealth of opportunities beyond the classroom, with extensive support as they prepare for university, apprenticeships and their future careers.
For our newest Sixth Formers, however, today was about meeting new people, finding their feet and beginning an exciting new chapter.
Whether you have progressed into Year 12 from Wycombe High or are one of the 55 students joining us from another school, welcome to our Sixth Form. We hope you have two fantastic years with us! 💙
