Every year, Wycombe High School’s Autumn Concert showcases an incredible array of musical talent from all year groups. This year’s digital concert was no exception.
Rather than cancel the concert, the Music Department took the challenges presented by Covid-19 in their stride, delivering an impressive and very enjoyable evening of music. The concert was broadcast using a fully-equipped, professional Outside Broadcast truck, and was enjoyed by viewers not only from High Wycombe but all over England, and even as far as California!
Viewers enjoyed performances from all age groups, showcasing a wide variety of music. While the Year 7 Band covered The Troggs’ 1966 hit ‘Wild Thing’, Anna Ricketts’ performance of the Rondo from Capuzzi’s Euphonium Concerto took us back to the early classical period.
Wycombe High’s Director of Music, Mr Bell commented on the success of the concert, saying: ‘It was a truly amazing night and the performers were outstanding. It was wonderful to see that friends and family were able to watch from the safety of their homes in and around High Wycombe and indeed around the world’.
Thanks to the nature of this concert, the entire evening is available to watch (or re-watch!) on the Wycombe High TV YouTube channel.
This year’s Autumn Concert has certainly set the bar high, and the whole Wycombe High School Community looks forward to more musical events this year has to offer.
