Students arriving at Wycombe High School were greeted by a delightful literary surprise this morning as members of the Leadership Group swapped their usual professional attire for the world of Beatrix Potter to celebrate World Book Day.
From Peter Rabbit to Jemima Puddle-Duck, the team joined students across the school in marking the annual celebration of books and reading.
The initiative highlights the importance of reading as a cornerstone of the Wycombe High experience, encouraging students of all ages to discover the lifelong enjoyment and opportunities that reading can bring.
Headteacher Mrs Nicola Renyard, who was part of the Beatrix Potter-themed celebrations, said:
“World Book Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the power of reading. Books open doors to imagination, creativity and knowledge, and we want every student at Wycombe High to develop a genuine love of reading that will stay with them throughout their lives.”
Mrs Renyard was recently nominated for Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School at this year’s Pearson National Teaching Awards.
