WHS student, Lahari, wins elite Engineering Scholarship

Wycombe High student, Lahari, in Year 12, has won a prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship – the most esteemed scholarship of its kind.

The award is designed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and change the world as a future leader in engineering.

Lahari, who is working towards a career in space engineering said: “I am thrilled and delighted to get this Scholarship – it means such a lot”.

The Scholarships are awarded to hard-working 16-year-old students through a rigorous selection process, supporting them through their A-levels. The winners receive £600 to support the purchase of components and materials to complete their personal technical projects or to enhance their curriculum projects.

Wycombe High also receives £400 to spend on equipment, materials or teacher training to enhance the delivery of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Wycombe High Headteacher, Sharon Cromie said: “It is fantastic that Lahari has been recognised in this way. Achieving this prestigious award is an important first step on her journey to studying space engineering at university and a successful future career”.
