Wycombe High School student, Dora, and her horse Oscar, winning 10 points in their debut appearance in the School Equestrian Games virtual dressage winter series.
Dora, who’s in Year 7, said: “I don’t normally do dressage because I love racing and showjumping. My pony, Oscar, is a showjumping pony and tries to do everything at top speed. We decided to concentrate on dressage riding in lockdown because it is calm and safer. We didn’t want to risk falling off when hospitals were already under pressure.
“Doing dressage after online school each day has helped me build a more trusting relationship with Oscar and he feels much calmer from all the work we have done riding quietly in an arena. I’ve been focusing on making sure he listens to my instructions and on ensuring I ride him more correctly and accurately. We were thrilled to win the Prelim Class. I love him so much. He got a big handful of treats for this!”
