When her English class was set the assignment of writing a letter, Year 9 student, Ayesha, decided to write a cheeky missive to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, suggesting that he reopen barber shops to get his hair sorted.
And despite her comment about the PM’s unkempt locks, today she got a reply – thanking her for her well-written letter.
Ayesha told WHTV News: “I know I shouldn’t have really said what I said but I never dreamt I’d get a reply. I wrote: ‘Please can you reopen the hairdressers so that you can get a haircut because you represent the country’. I know it was a bit cheeky but, thankfully, he didn’t seem to mind”.
Ayesha’s English teacher, Miss Benytta Doman, who set the assignment, said: “Students could write to anyone they wanted – friends, family or someone famous. I was very surprised when Ayesha got a reply in the post this morning and relieved to see that the Prime Minister has a good sense of humour”.
