Wycombe High School Year 12 Politics students and several brave members of the Junior Politics Society (Y9) and Law Society (Y10-13) met Baroness Newlove for a Question and Answer session at lunchtime today.
Students created their own questions and topics ranged from Lady Newlove’s interests campaigning for victims of crime to recent legislative decisions on the Environment Bill and in tackling violence against women.
Baroness Newlove was also keen to discover students’ ideas and views on how politics is perceived and what steps should be taken to make politics more accessible.
Hannah, a Year 12 A Level Politics student, said that it was great to see that Lady Newlove had voted against various pieces of legislation (e.g. Environment Bill) because she ‘wanted to push the government to do more or give greater protections and stronger details in their plans’.
