We are delighted to announce that the High Wycombe Primary Outreach Project, delivered in partnership with John Hampden Grammar School, has won the Innovation in Education Award at this year’s Buckinghamshire School Awards.
The award recognises the project’s innovative approach to supporting disadvantaged Year 5 pupils through weekly mentoring from more than 100 trained Year 12 students across both schools. By building confidence in literacy, numeracy and aspirations, the programme is making a real difference to younger pupils while also developing the leadership, communication and empathy skills of our Sixth Form mentors.
The award was presented at the Old Town Hall in High Wycombe to Jennie Griffin, Assistant Headteacher at Wycombe High School, and Jon Turner, Assistant Headteacher at John Hampden Grammar School.
Headteacher Nicola Renyard said:
“This award is wonderful recognition of what can be achieved when schools work together for the benefit of the wider community. I am incredibly proud of our Year 12 students, whose commitment, compassion and enthusiasm are helping younger pupils to flourish while developing their own leadership skills. My thanks also go to Jennie Griffin and our colleagues at John Hampden Grammar School for creating a partnership that is changing lives and inspiring futures.”
Congratulations to everyone involved in this inspiring collaboration and thank you for making such a positive difference to young people across our community.
