Key Stage 5

Preparation for university, employment or training is an integral part of the sixth form programme at Wycombe High Schoool. Students have the opportunity to attend careers talks specifically related to their A Level subjects and the school offers a comprehensive Oxbridge support programme including subject specific tutorials, interview preparation with mock interviews and MMI practice. Students also have the opportunity to visit university colleges of Oxford and Cambridge.

Year 12

  • Careers interviews by appointment and access to Adviza careers consultant
  • PSHEE Career Focus Day
  • Options after sixth form – applying for future courses, employment, apprenticeship and gap year opportunities delivered via presentations and workshops 
  • Presentations on the UCAS application process, choosing a course and university
  • Guidance on how to write an effective personal statement 
  • Identifying and accessing relevant work experience and voluntary work placements
  • Invitation to attend presentations by guest speakers from universities and industry 
  • Access to good resources including; the UNIFROG platform for university, apprenticeship and careers information, advice and guidance
  • Inspire & Career Talk with WHS alumnae, alongside other inspiring women talking about their own career journey with Q&A and networking option
  • Organised visits to Oxford and Cambridge university colleges (Somerville & Newnham)
  • Organised visit to the Oxford and Cambridge Student Conference
  • Vacancy Bulletin – Apprenticeships, Taster/Study days and HE courses etc.
  • Invitation to our Higher Education and Careers Fair
  • Fortnightly Careers Tutor programme for Year 12
  • Full access to Unifrog and eClips

Year 13

  • How to be proactive to boost your CV
  • Advice and guidance on university applications and personal statements
  • 1:1 Careers interviews – drop in or by appointment 
  • Access to good resources including; the UNIFROG platform for careers, university and apprenticeship information, advice and guidance
  • Effective interview techniques and mock interviews
  • Information on how to use a Gap Year and opportunities
  • Vacancy Bulletin – Apprenticeships, Training, Internships and HE taster courses etc.
  • Invitation to our Higher Education and Careers Fair
  • Fortnightly Careers Tutor programme for Year 13
  • Full access to Unifrog and eClips

All sixth form students have access to various career software packages and platforms including:

Start  Software that guides students to research a variety of suitable career ideas to review.

eCLIPS offering an A-Z search function on job groups, education choices, work and training and labour market information.

Unifrog a platform where students can explore education and training pathways, apprenticeships and FE Colleges. Best practice guides to applications and personal statement and CV writing.  Access to all UK university websites and information on applying to university in Europe, Canada, US, Australia and New Zealand.
